Kevin Riley is the current Mayor of the City of Sparta. He was first elected in 2022 and then re-elected in 2025 and is currently serving his 5th year as city mayor. Previous to being elected mayor he served on the Sparta City Council for 13 years and sat on almost every committee at the city level. He was appointed to 3 different “Blue Ribbon” committees by three different mayors and spearheaded the Sparta Aquatic Center build, the new Sparta Free Library expansion as well as the unification and creation of the Sparta Fire District. Currently he and the city are focused on the new South Pointe Business Park which is filling up much faster than expected, but still has room for new businesses.
Kevin just retired from the Sparta School District as an Educational Assistant in the Special Education Department. Previous to this he spent almost 30 years working with at-risk kids and adolescents in various settings that include the Wisconsin Challenge Academy as a Counselor, and as the lead worker in the County of La Crosse Intensive Supervision Program (ISP).
Kevin is married to his wife Vicki and has 2 children and 3 grandchildren who all live in Sparta.
