About
Melvina, Wisconsin
Melvina’s origin traces back to Charles A. Hunt, a miller from Vernon County who, after returning from the Civil War, sold his interests and purchased 300 acres of land in Monroe County. This land included the current location of the village of Melvina.
Establishing a mill there, Hunt encouraged other families to settle in the area, naming the settlement “Melvina” in honor of his late wife, Amanda Melvina Hunt.
