Located 7 miles west of Tomah and 6 miles east of Sparta, Fort McCoy is surrounded by communities rich in industries and recreational offerings. Additionally, the base is home to attractions like the Commemorative Area, Whitetail Ridge Ski Area and the Pine View Campground.

Fort McCoy
Fort McCoy’s Commemorative Area, History Center & Equipment Park showcases the installation’s rich history, highlighting its role in WWI, WWII, and other key events. It features WWII-era buildings, historical displays, and an outdoor Equipment Park displaying military equipment.
At Whitetail Ridge Ski Area, visitors can enjoy thrilling skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing experiences, with cozy retreats available at the Chalet & Ten Point Pub. The area also offers scenic cross-country skiing trails spanning over 5 miles.
Additionally, Pine View Campground offers water-based recreational activities such as canoeing, paddle boating, and beach fun for families and friends.
