Squirrel is Alive: A Teenager in the Belgian Resistance
Journey through the remarkable life of Mary Rostad, a courageous member of the WWII resistance movement, who served in Belgium and later France as a courier of underground documents. Adopting the code name “Squirrel,” she walked over one thousand miles in frigid conditions, far from her home and family, to report on the movement of German troops. After the war, she settled in Spring Grove, MN, with her husband, Allen Rostad. Holocaust educators Darryle Clott and Dave Nelson have partnered with Mary’s children, Denise and Kim Rostad, to share this powerful story. Mary’s book Squirrel Is Alive will also be available for purchase during the event.
