Join professional Geologist for UW-Madison, Eric Carson, to learn all about how he maps the Driftless! The Driftless Area is one of the most distinctive geological regions in the U.S. It remained unglaciated which led to its preserved older valleys and ridgelines that were erased elsewhere. One of Eric’s chief tasks with the Geological Survey is producing maps of the loose sediment at the earth’s surface. He’s 17 years deep into mapping the region county-by-county including Monroe County! Learn more about his work and the Driftless area during this fun and interesting event. Free and open to all ages.
Eric Carson is a geologist with the Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey and a professor at UW-Madison. His research focuses on how landscapes evolve over geologic time and, particularly, processes associated with rivers, floods, and the last glaciation in Wisconsin.
